Chronically Happy

I just posted this on my Flickr as part of my self portrait project and thought I’d share it here too.  Especially as my drawing flow has faltered a little recently. 

I have to add sometimes happiness is not as near the surface as I would like, but I guess that’s part of life and the challenge of CFS/ME.

24 August 2007.  Chronically happy. 
Despite feeling desperately tired, exhausted and ill from CFS/ME. Depsite a lingering viral infection.  Despite tears of frustration and confusion earlier in the day.  Despite having been stuck in bed and only getting washed and dressed late afternoon (just a short while before I took this picture).  Depsite not being able to draw or do much art in the last few weeks.  Despite not being able to work, go out, do anything physical for longer than a few minutes.  Despite a bad IBS attack yesterday.  Despite sleep distruption.  Despite having a long list of things I want and need to do that I just can’t do. 
Somehow, somewhere, deep in my core - I’m still happy.

Transient insomnia strikes again.  I’m crazy tired - not frightened or miserable.  I think the mouth turned out not quite right - probably because I drew it after only 4 hours sleep

Erm, it’s got something to do with nagging, crushing headaches and not knowing what my brain is up to.  or my body.  I think. 

Plus my head sort of looks like a tablet … which is quite fitting.

PS: Every time I think about this drawing today it makes me giggle.  I showed it to Paul tonight and I cried with laughter when I saw it again.  I don’t know why it just has that effect on me.

One Window 12 Aug 2007 (Photograph)

Most of the photographs I take are snaps really.  I don’t have the energy or stamina to set shots up as well as I would like.  Sometimes I take a photo I really like.  It’s usually a happy accident

Yesterday I took one I really like.  I belong to a Flickr group One Window To The World where I submit a photo of my bedroom window every now and again.

I spent most of the day in bed yesterday with fatigue and what-not but even so it was a beautiful day.  The sun was shining and there was a cool breeze coming through the window. 

Late afternoon I captured these wonderful shadows on the net curtain blowing with the rise and fall of the breeze.

Horribly ill day yesterday - absolutely wiped out with fatigue.

Spent almost all day in bed.  But the sun was shining, there was a beautiful breeze through the open window and I love our big comfey bed.

So it could have been worse.
