Humph. Following on from my throwaway sculpture question (should I try when I might just have to throw it away?) I have an update for you.
It’s not going to work. Humph. Grump. Pah!
The concept was (past tense) to use (now empty) blisters of medication glued together to form the surface of a huge ball.
About half of these tablet blisters are see through and so create these tiny little bubble windows to the world. So you would be able to see glimpes of the inside of the ball and light would cascade through it. OK so maybe not cascade, but it would be a ball which lets in light.
Except I can’t get the construction quite right. Lots of rectangles patchworking to make the surface of a big ball is harder than I thought.
So a rethink is needed.
If I ever figure out a way to use the materials I will let you know. If silence descends on this topic you know I never figured it out!

My attempts at drawing were going horribly wrong. Looks like doing this kickstarted things though as two drawings followed which turned out ok.

I styled my hair for the first time in a long time yesterday as we were going out to meet friends. But I found myself preening in the mirror as I got ready for bed. It made for an interesting bed head this morning where my new hair style looked disctinctly like a quiff in the making (ducktail in American).

I never expected to be cared for by my husband. Oh that sounds well!
What I mean is I never expected to become so ill I would need assistance - certainly not at the age of 34.
My husband Paul has a written a piece about what it it is like to juggle self-employment and caring for me for The Guardian newspaper online as part of their week of work-life balance articles and blogs.
It’s one of my photographs :o)

So I have this idea for a piece of sculpture which I’ve been formulating for a while now.
The piece would be large - too large for me to store or to display in my home. At least 2 foot high and wide. Even if someone loved it and wanted to take it off my hands it’s still going to be too large to mail to anyone (lightweight but bulky). It would also be a nightmare to dust and keep clean. Do most people consider the dusting when they acquire art I wonder?
Plus I don’t even know if the idea I have will work. I’ve had the concept since last year but the details of the execution are a little sketchy. It’s something totally new for me but it has great personal meaning to me.
I could scale it down and make a number os smaller versions but it won’t have the same effect and I’m loathed to compromise in a way that lessens the effect.
So … do I spend precious time and energy trying to create a piece of sculpture which may or may not suceed and if it does work I can only photograph to share it with you all here and then probably have to trash it and throw it away?
