Pop up art of St Mary’s Church, Marshfield, Newport, Wales.
Inside is the church with it’s tower and buildings, stained glass window and even a tiny bench outside to sit a while. Tall trees stand behind the church and a stone path comes around the buildings towards us.
This is the church my niece got married in and the card was made to celebrate their wedding.
The lush grass and flower boxes conceal a surprise! Under a little sign that reads “Keep Off The Grass” – a pop up tab is pulled to reveal special guest Benji the dog. Benji is the bride and groom’s pup so he’s wearing a bow tie.
A bit of fun as there’s no such sign at the real St Mary’s Church.
Otherwise I’ve tried to capture some of the features and character of the real church, yard and the lych gate which features on the front of the card.
This art pop up is made from paper, card, glue, ink and watercolour. The folded piece measures 6″ square.
